Hundreds of Massachusetts Pastors Demand Churches be in First Phase of Opening

More than 260 pastors from across Massachusetts are pushing Gov. Charlie Baker's reopening advisory board to consider churches as essential and allow them to be in the first phase of reopening currently scheduled for May 18.

The Massachusetts pastors sent a letter to Gov. Baker and the co-chairs of Baker's advisory board, requesting that churches be “swiftly and publicly” recognized as essential.

Archdiocese of Boston not among them:

he Archdiocese of Boston said in a statement that it remains "committed to working with public officials on the timing and conditions of reopening churches for Masses." "We hope and pray for the return of public celebrations when it will be safe to do so by way of new directives," the statement said.
